Stop Topping the Ball
Share
The tops can be contagious and quickly can ruin a round. If you struggle with topping the ball, try this tee drill from Cindy Miller to make flush contact.

Do you open the club face? Thanks gor the tips
Sally C.
Yes, I open the face on the back swing.
I have watched this video and practiced I am having the worst time getting the club face to close.
Michael D.
If you are pulling the grip down with your left arm (right handed player) you will shank it. You MUST allow your right hand to square the face up. Take small swings allowing your wrists to move and swing the club face. If you do this, it will open and square up. The club face will also brush the grass. This is what makes the ball go up in the air. Please try again and let me know how it goes.
I’m concerned when I look behind the ball because I’ll hit it fat. What about looking just in front of the ball?
Edward T.
If your arms are really tight and you are swinging the shaft, you will hit it fat. If you swing the club head, you will never hit it fat. Your mission is to swing the club head and allow it to come back to the bottom of the arc. I dare you to try it. It works if you are relaxed. Have some fun!
I'll have a go!
